Angie Pastor - “That’s All” [2024]

In a stunning jazz debut, vocalist Angie Pastor mobilizes old-fashioned standards in her first EP release.

Providing the musical canvas, Angie found a spontaneous musical kinship with Oregon-based pianist Wesley Georgiev. "My friends were having an after-school jam and Wes just happened to be there. He was in town for a show at Smalls, but none of us knew who he was."

Pastor's effervescent personality led to an evening that exemplifies the very allure of New York City. Angie laughs, "After his show, we ran around the city until seven in the morning so he could see the skyline for the first time. We were trying to sneak into apartment buildings to make it to the roof — which didn't work. By morning, we ended up on the 28th floor of the Hilton Hotel."

Just shy of a "meet-cute", the two developed a close friendship that would inevitably result in this duo musical outing that explores Pastor's fresh romantic wounds from a previous musical collaborator.

Angie reflects, "Most of my duo performances and recordings had been with my previous partner, so this project felt like a defining moment of personal and musical independence. Even the songs that I chose were centered around this recent break-up. The lyrics took on an entirely new meaning through the lens of a withering relationship, as compared to a blooming one."
